Open Call for Research
Nature-Based Solutions at Terra, Expo City Dubai
Terra is inviting academic researchers, students and institutions to study Nature-Based Solutions within our gardens and living ecosystems.
Our purpose-designed research sites offer opportunities to investigate how nature-based interventions perform in arid urban environments and how they could be applied across the UAE, the Gulf and other arid regions.
Research opportunities include:
Reed bed wetland and water treatment
Green roof and managed grazing
Pocket forest
Terra Garden and Dr Jane Goodall Pollinator Garden
Freshwater pond and constructed wadi ecosystem

We welcome proposals spanning ecology, engineering, design, social science and public health, particularly research with practical applications for policy, urban design, environmental management or public engagement.
The call is open to Master’s and PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, academic faculty, universities, research institutions, NGOs and interdisciplinary teams. UAE and MENA-based researchers are particularly encouraged to apply, alongside international collaborators focused on arid-climate environments.
Approved researchers may receive access to relevant sites and existing datasets, support from the Terra Impact team and opportunities to share their findings through Terra’s events and programmes.
