Secrets of Terra
guided tour
Secrets of Terra

This April, we’re delighted to welcome you to our very first Time for Nature members-only session. Secrets of Terra is a guided experience that takes you through the Terra exhibition and behind the scenes, into spaces and stories most visitors don’t usually get to hear or see. We’ll meet on 25 April, at 10:00am at Terra, and the session will run for 90 minutes. This session is led by Sheena Khan, one of the founding team members who helped shape Terra from the very beginning and who continues to do so as Head of Environmental Programs. She brings first-hand insight into how Terra came to life. It’s a relaxed, members-only experience with time to listen, ask questions, and uncover a few surprises along the way.

Fungi uncovered: Explore, Experiment, Discover
Workshop
Fungi uncovered: Explore, Experiment, Discover

Discover the science behind one of Earth’s most overlooked kingdoms in this interactive mycology workshop. Through hands-on exploration of live cultures, microscopic observation, and guided lab demonstrations, you’ll uncover how fungi grow and interact with their environment.

Work together to identify contamination, make decisions like a mycologist, and explore the role of fungi in desert ecosystems. You’ll also learn how to document fungi in the wild using iNaturalist, contributing to ongoing biodiversity research in the UAE.

Eyes in the Sky: Tracking Nature’s Hidden Changes

Eyes in the Sky: Tracking Nature’s Hidden Changes

This June, we’re inviting you to step back and see nature from above.

Our next Time for Nature session, Eyes in the Sky: Tracking Nature’s Hidden Changes, explores how satellites quietly track changes across our landscapes, from shifting vegetation to early signs of environmental stress that are easy to miss on the ground.

We’ll meet at Terra on Saturday, 21st of June at 10:00am, and the session will run for 90 minutes. It will be led by Dr. Sajid Pareeth, Director of Water & Climate Solutions at Terra, who will share how earth-observation tools help us understand what’s changing and why it matters.

You’ll have the chance to explore satellite images, spot patterns over time, and see how these “eyes in the sky” support smarter conservation, planning, and sustainability decisions.

It’s a chance to see what’s been changing, quietly and over time.

The Power of Nature for Human Wellbeing
Talk
The Power of Nature for Human Wellbeing

This July, we’re slowing things down and looking at nature from a very human point of view.

Our next session, The Power of Nature for Human Wellbeing, is a science-based talk that explores why time in nature isn’t just a nice extra, but something our minds and bodies genuinely need.

We’ll be meeting on Saturday, 18 July at 10:00am for a talk led by Sheena Khan, Head of Environmental Programs at Terra. The session brings together research, real-world insight, and a growing global shift towards seeing nature as part of everyday wellbeing.

Expect thoughtful stories, surprising science, and a fresh perspective on the quiet ways nature supports our health, often without us even noticing.

It’s a chance to pause, reflect, and leave with a renewed appreciation for the natural world around us.
