City Nature Challenge
From city streets to wetlands, neighbourhood parks to desert landscapes, nature is everywhere, and this April, Dubai is invited to help document it.
City Nature Challenge Dubai is a free, four-day invitation to explore the wildlife living alongside us and record it using the iNaturalist app. Led by Terra at Expo City Dubai, the challenge is part of a global citizen science movement taking place in hundreds of cities around the world.
No experience is needed. Just head outside, spot any wild plant, animal or fungus, take a photo, and upload it. Every observation contributes to real biodiversity data used by scientists and researchers, helping build a better understanding of the natural world around us.
A global movement. A local story. Real impact.
How it Works
Participation is simple: Find it, Snap it, Share it.
Download iNaturalist: Create a free account on the iNaturalist app.
Go outside: Look for wild plants, animals or fungi anywhere in Dubai between 24 and 27 April 2026.
Take a photo: Photograph what you find and upload it to iNaturalist.
Whether it is a bird in a community park, a lizard on a desert trail, or a wildflower in your backyard, your photos matter. By uploading your sightings of wildlife to the free iNaturalist app, you provide real-time data to scientists working to understand and protect our urban ecosystems. You do not need to be an expert to make a difference; you just need to be curious.
